Message from Director
On behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), it gives me great pleasure to present about the financial industry in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The purpose is to Providian up-to-date on the performance of the financial industry together with a commentary on the administration of the financial industry laws and regulations. The information in this website will provide an understanding to local and foreign investors of the situation in the fledgling and growing financial industry sector in the country. |

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all financial companies in the Kingdom of Cambodia for their strong and continued support that has enabled the financial industry to be regulated with integrity, dedication and fairness. Today more than ever, it is very important to have a vibrant, competitive and innovative financial industry to keep abreast of the changing landscape in the international environment. Despite it being small and young, the local financial industry cannot be entirely insulated from external developments. The missions of the Divisions of Department of Financial Industry (FID) are to promote the orderly development of the local financial industry and at the same time to instill public confidence in Cambodia's financial industry. To achieve our mission, certain Laws, Sub-decrees, Prakas, and Circulars have been adopted and implemented to supervise company operations. In conclusion, I wish to emphasize that the focus in the future will be on strengthening the financial industry sector and enabling it to play a more meaningful role in the socio-economic development of the country. Presently, the growth of the financial industry sector is not in tandem with the impressive growth rates of GDP in the country. It is imperative that we provide greater opportunities for the companies to expand their businesses. In this regard, it is firstly necessary to embark on a nation-wide public awareness program so that the public will appreciate the benefits of financial industry and adhere strictly to the several financial industry requirements. The financial industry and other relevant agencies of Government must co-operate closely with the FID in this public relations venture that is of utmost national importance. Sincerely,
